The Legacy of Taki House: Uniting Generations for a Brighter Future

A group of young enthusiasts encouraged by the rich social culture and heritage of Govt. Sponsored Multipurpose School Boys Taki House (Taki Boys) and Taki House Govt. Sponsored Girls High School (Taki Girls) planed to form a common platform to coalesce, convey, cooperate and establish a strong community of people who are part of these two great institutions for the ultimate benefit of the society.

The boy’s school commenced under the auspicious guidance of Lt. Kanai Lal Mukhopadhayay honoured as 'National Teacher'; in the year 1965. The commencement of the girl’s school took place in the same year under Lt. Malina Guha's guidance. Till the year 1979, both these schools were housed in same building, where the Taki Boys School is presently situated. Later girl’s school formed a building of their own, right next to the boy’s school building.

Post-Independence of India, the Zamindars of Taki (near Basirhat) donated their property to the Govt. of West Bengal. Honourable Ray Bahadur Harendranath Choudhury permitted these two schools to be started during his tenure as Education Minister of West Bengal. In honour of the original landlords these two schools were named TAKI HOUSE.

Under the experienced guidance of these two institutional heads, Taki Boys and Girls soon became a bright star in the education system of West Bengal. The students of both these schools are now spread across the world and known for their glorious activities. THE TAKIYANS, a forum for the old, existing and future students of these revered institutions welcomes all to come onboard and relive the nostalgia. This community is enabling and working as an independent platform to help its member in pursuit of betterment of the society.
